[Boatanchors] WRL Globe Scout 65 P/T

GA All, 
My faithful ole Scout 65 is blowing fuses. I disconnected the primary from the fuse 
and on/off switch and hooked 120vac directly to the primary, thru a lamp load, and 
slowly turned up the variac and the lamp glowed pretty brightly. I did not go up to a 
full 120vac. The primary winding resistance is 1.7 ohms. No resistance to gnd. The 
xfmr seemed to be pretty stout so am surprised that it developed a short. 

Now, does anyone have a xfmr or a junker Scout with a good xfmr? If so please 
let me know. I hate to have to junk it.
