[Boatanchors] Tuning Your BCB Radio in the Late 1930s

FYI, the "Big Band Music" of the 30's, 40's, and 50's is still very popular
in nursing homes and retirement living facilities. I play trumpet in an 18
piece Big Band. We play 40 gigs a year, taking 6 weeks off in the Summer.
We also give "music history" programs to the assembled students at
elementary and middle schools.

To be sure, the musicians who love and play this music are aging out. The
average age of our band members is 80 with one fellow at 92. Last year we
lost a 98 year old and our average age dropped. :-)

For those of us who remember that era, there is nothing quite like it. The
lyrics told the story of the attitudes (fears) of the times when the whole
world struggled to see which side would prevail. Even our enemies loved
the music. And it is perhaps more popular in Europe today than in the USA.

In case you want to find out more about us, we are The Young At Heart Big
Band in Lexington, KY. Our website is : youngatheartbigband.org

You may also find us on youtube. Search for "Young At Heart 2010B" and you
will find a mini documentary telling about the band. I am the one who was
"kidnapped" into the band.

I would certainly like to listen to the recording under discussion.
Perhaps I might find a clue that would help date. the fact that it is a
wire recording might date it before the 1950's.

73,

Dave, K4TO
