My NOV pink slip was a VERY traumatic experience for a newly minted ham of 16 yrs old. I was so freaked out that I took the station apart, put it all in boxes and stored it in the shed. I then took down the antenna! .At that time (early 1960s) the FCC was GOD and all I could think of was they were going to confiscate my gear and shoot my dog!!!
One of my mentors, George Comstock, W7CJ, told me to answer the FCC pink slip by saying that I was taking precautions and going through the transmitter (George and I found a lot of cold solder joints, and shortened up some wires which apparently fixed things).
I continued to use the T-60 for several more months without incident. Finally traded it off and got a Heathkit DX-40.
Has anyone taken notice of the prices on Novice rigs....especially on epay? Somone is selling a DX-40 for >$200!!

My high school science club advisor precluded that. The "ham radio
group" (me and two buddies) weren't licensed yet but we'd fire the T-60
up into a light bulb dummy load and listen to ourselves on the Lafayette
HE-30 receiver. Until the physics teacher became aware that light
bulbs can radiate a signal for some distance, and we lived about an hour
away from the Grand Island Nebraska monitoring station.
End of experiments. I put my T-60 on the air for one of the AM nets now
and then and it does OK. Cute rig, and nowadays many of us use a
tuner of some sort that would add sufficient filtering (if anyone was
listening).
