You can scour the hock shops for a T&B replaceable jaw/chuck crimper.
These chucks will fit most AWG and really do the job properly.
Other smaller crimpers are usually found in these places as well.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Crimping Tool for 6 AWG lugs, any recommendations?

Two questions about crimping:

  1. Can anyone recommend an affordable bare lug crimper for #10 through
#6 AWG bare lugs
that won't break easily ?

The ones popular on Amazon, et al, consistently have 10-15% reviews
reporting tools that bent or broken. But, not being in a commercial
endeavor, paying $200 plus is not in the battle plan.

2. I have a strong IDEAL hand crimper for #22 to #10 and it will compress
#8 and #6 lugs. The effect on the larger lugs is that it pushes in a dimple
rather than form the hex shape. Still it seems like a decent crimp.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  Doug
