[Boatanchors] Drying out power supplies?

Hi,

I have used an oven like the one in your kitchen on *other* things to 
dry them. Temps no higher than 200 degrees and it can take several 
hours. Others have reported doing the same thing with power supply and 
audio iron with success. If you use the oven in your kitchen wait until 
the XYL is away fo the day keep the kitchen windows open.

You can also operate the primary for a number of says with no load or a 
light load to let the normal heat dry it. Remove any end bells. You 
apply a tolerable current to a winding in an audio transformer to the 
same thing. Other hams have done it that way and I did too. I let it run 
for several days and placed it in sunlight as well.
