[Boatanchors] Help me ID an old digital display

About 40 years ago I bought a surplus unworking frequency counter made
perhaps in the 1970's. A very heavy unit like they all were at the time. It
was a Beckman counter Aor Universal Counter (don't know the model) but what
was unique about it was the display. By my sketchy memory it was a blue or
purplish display not very brilliant but more like a passive lcd display. I
was thinking about it the other day and had a look on the internet on early
digital displays but never saw anything quite like it.
Any of you folks remember a display something like that that could help
solve an old mystery?
