I've added plastic insulators and hardware for some big iron as a
preventative measure at the suggestion of others who have "been there,
done that".   Examples include the Collins 30S-1 HV transformer, which
is a very expensive rewind job, even without the shipping to and from.

I have  a Globe Champion 350 with a mod transformer that is painted red
and mounted to a piece of plexiglass.  Interesting to learn that the red
paint was actually common practice.   I guess the truly paranoid or
accident-prone could fabricate a plexiglass enclosure to prevent
accidental contact with such a component, similar to the paper
insulating sleeves that were used on can type electrolytics where the
case was above ground potential.
