[Boatanchors] Ranger question

Hi Rob,

I replied to the original post is a different message on the list. 
Whether or not to use the Ranger on 160 depends on your definition of 
"local". To me, local is anywhere within the range of a "day trip". 
Using the Interstate Highway system that is about 300 miles. On 160, 
even with a modest antenna and the Ranger (not a blowtorch) I can easily 
work the entire Great Lakes region and somewhat beyond. Much farther 
than any day trip. DX afficianados may not be happy talking to anybody 
on the same continent. The Ranger easily overpowers the QRP crowd who 
work 160 meters with 5 Watts (or less). They even garner some DX. Just 
not as much as the kilovolt crowd.
