I don't think that's the original motive. You start out buying parts
etc. because you know that eventually some will become unobtainium.
Which has happened. Try to find National Grid Grips and UTC LS iron.
Then you buy projects to work on. But some of us had too much space
and too much money apparently.
Jack collects salt and pepper shakers and has 10,000 pairs in a
separate out building, well lit and each pair is on its on spot on
shelves. All nicely labelled on display.
John has 10,000 salt and pepper shakers thrown in a big pile in a room.
They have the same stuff but oh, Jack is a _collector_ and John? He's
a _hoarder_. Jack is _good_; he has a classy museum. John is
_bad_. What's the difference? the same obsessive compulsive behavior
but one has more space and is organized; the other isn't. That's
all.
