Hi Group,
After deciding to upgrade my trusty old Might Mite tubetester, I was
shocked by the prices going for uncalibrated 50+ year old Hickoks, Westons,
military units etc. Guess the audio guys are lurking behind this
As an alternative, and as a learning experience, I would like to try to
emulate accurate tube testing with the equipment I have on hand. Scopes,
stable sig generators, regulated B+, Bias and filament voltage sources are
no problem, I have a well equipped bench.
Ok, so I have looked at some tube tester schematics but they are very
confusing with umpteen lines going through multiple sockets and many
switches.
So what I am wondering is if someone has or knows of some relatively
simple schematics for testing the various aspects of a vacuum tube. Most
important is gm. Second would be power, and mu. Nice would be ability to
test, measure shorts and gas.
The internet is loaded with tube data so that is no problem. Hope you can
help.
