I have a BC 779A receiver that looks like a truly great candidate for recapping and  restoration . It looks like it will clean up nicely. I also have the matching original power supply. The receiver, I have, was built by Howard company.
I purchased it in North Carolina, last summer, and allegedly was owned by an employee of Hammarlund  company at Mars Hill before their closing..
Under chassis shows no major repair or modifications and it appears to have less than half dozen caps replaced by modern capacitors. If anyone has a BC 778A that they have restored IN RECENT MEMORY, I would appreciate any tips things to look for. I don't have a manual or schematic for the BC 779A.
I have a SP 600 and plan to rack mount the BC 779 below the SP 600. I have quite a number of vintage receivers and have heard that a properly restored BC 779A can turn into a good receiver.
If restored BC 779 receivers is an interest of yours, I will appreciate tips and suggestions such as what are the square brown capacitors and what type modern capacitors will replace the.
I am looking forward to hearing from you folks.
