Pete,

Thanks for the link.  IMHO, HF conditions, especially in daylight hours 
just plain suck.  Solar cycle 24 was clearly a runt, and now we're back 
in a slump.  While things will eventually get better, even the 
projections for cycle 25 aren't very impressive compared to the ones we 
remember.  I feel like ol' sol shifted gears about Y2K, and we may not 
live to see the great propagation of the past.

A better antenna might help, but that's not really the problem.
