Hi Dave,
I lost interest in V/UHF FM (and repeaters) years ago. I have thought
about FMing the programmable modules. The programmable frequency
circuits in V/UHF FM radios are directly FMed. And phase modulation by
the mic audio can also be applied after the oscillator. Have you
actually tried to FM the programmable modules? How do people apply the
GPS spanking to those modules. The spanking could as easily FM the unit
as stabilize it.
Even though I do not have use for it, now I will have to try it! I am
ordering some from QRPLabs anyway. Before I install one of them in my
gear I will play with FMing it.
