investigate this:  That coil looks like the same one used in the old
Unique Wire Tuners made by Unique Products Co.   See if you can find
some photos on-line of the wire tuner interior.  That item is often
available for at most $100 and has the inductor, a nice turns counter,
shaft insulators -- it was really well made for what it was designed
to do.   Your coil might be wider or longer, hard to tell exactly.
