Hi David,

Is it a moving vane or a rectifier type ?
Moving vane AC meters have a non-linear scale but are true RMS indicators.
Rectifier type meters use a internal diode bridge (usually 4 Ge diodes) coupled to a DC movement and have a linear scale but are not true RMS meters (average rectified AC calibration).
If it is a rectifier type AC meter, it should work OK at 60Hz because the internal indicating movement is a DC type and doesn't care of the AC frequency applied (within limits, however !).
