[Boatanchors] Source for Frequency Counter

Hi Dale,
His intended use is alignment of radios (did he say receivers?). A more
important characteristic is "repeatability". Even if the counter is off
by 10 or 100 Hz it's okay so long as it is always off by the same
amount. When the filter shoulder is found, using the counter as part of
the lashup, the generator can be set to whatever the counter calls that
frequency. Decimal place accuracy increases in importance for setting up
to operate WSPR with supposedly millihertz requirements. Or setting a
commercial radio on the "specified frequency. Even there we have
acceptable tolerances. Everything is all about tolerances and there are
*no* absolutes. It just depends on the combined resolution and accuracy
of the measurement device how close we can get. Literally everything
jiggle and wriggles and jitters and wobbles. It's all about degrees.
But I do have doubts about some of the available architectures. I have
not checked out imported counters that can be found on eBay or Amazon.
Others have testified they are "adequate". Again..adequate or not may
depend on our own requirements.

Bill KU8H
