[Boatanchors] Source for Frequency Counter

Hi Joe,

Keep your eye out for one at hamfests and flea markets. The one I use
cost me one dollar. I brought it home and checked it out. It worked and
was stable enough. How is one dollar for inexpensive? Some of the ham
radio kit suppliers have kits that might be your least expensive way to
get a *new* frequency counter. Buying used gear you get a pig in a poke
when you can even find it. This is not a QRP mail list but kit suppliers
do cater to QRP so look for those vendors. Unless you want a vacuum tube
based frequency counter half the size of a Volkswagen! <evil grin>. Some
hams report success with the frequency counters from China for a few
dollars. There are also microcontroller based frequency counters. I have
not tried one of those so I can't speak to their reliability on the ham
radio workbecnh. Make your own box to mount any of those kits.

I hope this helps.

Bill KU8H
