Howie,

I have a couple of VF-1s, one that I use with a Viking II and the other with an AT-1.  I power both of them from their associated transmitters, not from a separate power supply.  I have not measured their drift, but my overall impression is that they are not very drifty, nor is the vfo in my DX-100 which is essentially another VF-1.  In contrast, the Viking vfos that I use with my Viking I and Adventurer have noticeable, slow warm-up drift for quite a while.  I'd suggest you power a tube-type VF-1 from its transmitter power supply if possible.
