To the various folk who kindly responded to my request for Solar 5 dot color codes,many thanks,greatly appreciated.
There is a twist in the tail,the Solar brand mica caps did indeed have a 6 dot color code.I could not reconcile all the sent data with what I had in front of my eyes.
Then,BINGO,I used some circuit board cleaner to remove the copious quantities of old solder flux (and,I suspect,MFP residue).
There on the face of the cap was the missing dot although,it had no molded circle for the 2nd significant figure.
The Solar people had simply dabbed a color dot onto the body of the cap making what ever the original 5 dot system into a 6 "dot" system.
As it happens,not one of the caps had any leakage at 500V but were wildly off in the actual capacitance measurement.
