Hi Al, thought I'd let you know I had a signature moment today. Was
looking again at the alignment of the RF slug cams. On 4-7 it looked
very close, and on 8-15 it was not as good but not perfect. Didn't even
look at the 16-30 preciously, figured I'd get to the higher stuff after
I got the lower bands working. The 16-30 was almost 180 degrees off!
Playing with it, back n forth a dozen or so times, got the idea that the
shaft going from the gears up front to the RF rack gears had been
loosened at the coupling. Counted rotations on all three through a
cycle, and saw there were four on the 4-7, two on the 8-15, and one on
the 16-30. Played with it a while, and got things all back in sync, and
bingo, things tuned up nicely. Went through all racks top and bottom
freq several times. No problems! Reception on all bands, 500Kc to 30.5 Mc.

Before this I did take out two of the coil/cap assemblies on the 4-7
rack, checked them for capacity through the range, both looked good but
a bit stiff. Released the rotor shafts on the caps, removed and cleaned,
much better. But ALL the caps have the desired peaking effect now, and
I'm not sure I want to remove all of them to clean! Some are really
buried....

But I still intend to go on with the C204/C206 replacement, and check
out the various bathtubs. Gotta give you a big thanks for all the help!
And thanks to the others who offered suggestions.

73, Howie WB2AWQ
