[Boatanchors] The ARRL's next move

I think most of the problem is HF antennas.
As all of you already know....putting up even a very modest HF antenna these days is almost impossible unless you are a very rich 18 year old out on your own and can build a house out away from all the antennanazi's.
I think ARRL is messing up....again.

But a VHF HT is not a HF SSB/CW rig.
I have owned older HF RICEBOXES bought off eBay and I was not impressed by them. For one thing when they break they are difficult to repair.
The cheap VFH HT is a throw away. When it breaks you throw it away and get a new one.
And a lot of the people that get a Tech ticket these days never go beyond the local VHF/UHF repeater.
I don't think the interest in HF activity is growing. I think it is in decline.

Yet one can get on repeaters with a $30 dual band, 5 watt handheld.
That is about $3.80 in 1965 dollars. --Mike, WV2ZOW
