[Boatanchors] The ARRL's next move

And talk to who? We have a club repeater and it's never in use. It's
few and far between that I hear of a repeater that's used today.

In days gone by, hams used repeaters to talk about things they've
accomplished in other facets of ham radio. Today, your newbie gets a
brand new bofang (or whatever) handheld, gets on the repeater and finds
either nobody to talk to, or the conversations ends after he gives his
name because he's got nothing else to say.

It's a cruelty to tell a new ham to get an HT for repeater usage. Tell
them to get on HF -- pick your mode.
