Ian,
I am here chuckling while reading your email about the RAK.I also am doing the eternal project RAL.And yes, I gave away the RAK a couple of years ago.
So far on the RAL I replaced the oil filled caps. Replaced a lot of crumbling wires from the audio filter.Replaced all the 100K resistors. For some reason only the 100Ks went out of spec.Painted the outside cabinet.Stripped and wrinkle painted the front panel.I am in the process of repainting the escutcheon plates and then sanding them with 400 grit to bring out the lettering,Finally, I will clear coat them and begin reassembly.
All so I could keep the "nice old receiver" from being parted out. Nuts.

Thinning out the herd. I acquired this for $50 a decade or so ago at a
local swap meet and decided to give it a home where it would be safe
from parting out. The RAK is getting to be at/above the upper limit of what
I can move, so I am keeping (an eternal work-in-progress) RAL only.
As far as I recall this unit is unmodified (apart from a silly mod to
replace
the Filament Supply meter with a green light). I have installed the correct
meter (thank you Ken, finally got around to it) but not hooked up/tested it.
I am pretty sure that this unit worked FB last time it was powered up,
with the probably exception of switches/controls needing to be cleaned.
Anyway. Complete with outer cover, no power supply included, quite
dusty but looking for a new home.
Since we no longer have a vehicle that can move one of these, you would
have to pick it up from Irvine, CA.
Replies off-list please (obviously, discussions about the RAK are fine
on-list :) ).
