[Boatanchors] Carbon Comp V ratings

There will be no DC differential across the parasitic suppressor because of the coil and the only differential across the resistor should occur where the coil is supplying significant reactance which is well above the operating frequency (as is intended). So the RF at that frequency will be forced primarily through the resistor which is how it provides stability.

Often a “cooked” parasitic resistor is primarily from an abused final where significant heat from the anode is conducted into the resistor. I have seen more than one tube with solder melted from the plate cap connector running out due to the heat. It impresses me how much a typical anode seal can take before failure.

WOW !
Why they do not vaporize instantly, then ?

Hello Bill,

Your assertion is only true when there is no RF on the plate. When the tube
is driven to full saturation, there will be nearly + and - 1200 V
alternating across the parasitic resistor.

That parasitic surpessor is not across the B+ supply to ground. It is in
series in the plate circuit so 1200 volts B+ on one side and um...pretty
darn close to 1200 volts on the other end. Just keep the golden screwdriver
clear of it ;)
