Unless he has the accessory SM-90 screen modulator or some external plate modulator, the WRL Globe Chief 90A is a CW only transmitter with a 6AG7 oscillator / multiplier driving 2-each 807 tubes in parallel.

Depends a lot on your location and your intended
modes of operation.  There should be a "calling"
freq
in your area for AM (here in NE Texas it's 3890
KC).
AM and CW operators in your area would likely have
the best recommendations.
