As it turns out, no. It took three tries but I finally got one that worked.
When you click the Confirm button in the email, it should start your browser
and take you to a screen very similar to the one where you entered your name
and email address. With a Thank-you message. You don't have to do anything
other than read it and then kill the browser.

Hello Bob
Maybe I missed something, but I thought that after I hit confirm in the
email, that was the end of it.
Hope I was right !

The link I'm talking about is the one in the email that you receive after
signing. The first part obviously worked for me because I got the
confirming email. But when I opened that one and downloaded the photos and
clicked on the confirmation link, nothing happened. So I don't know whether
I answered the confirmation email or not. So that's why I am asking what
happens when some of the others of you click the confirmation link?

Yes Bob,after I gave my personal info, I scrolled down to confirm.
Afterwards I got an email with a place to confirm my petition.
No problems.
