Looks like the real targets are environmental research and science related to atmospherics and the like with the WWV  WWVH being merely chump change in the overall cutbacks.  Hmmm  Letters to our elected officials might help...?

I think contact with individual elected officials plus offering something more than  clocks- like how people of modest means and school children and small colleges use WWV in their experiments and calibrations, people who can’t afford expensive GPS-derived clocks and standards- will go much further than a petition to the White House.  It’s important to write your House rep but even more important to convince your Senators.  A Senator can flag something like this and it will get serious consideration just because he’s a Senator.  Show him/her how they can spin it to “helping the little guys in our State” and you’re likely to get some attention.
