Thank you. Yes, several people have been asking for 3396.4 kHz crystals and so we are having some of those made up in the near future.

Bry,

Those crystals are used in the SB-100, SB-101, SB-102, HW-100 and HW-101.

Here's the Heathkit part numbersa and what they do:

404-205 3393.6 kHz - LSB receive and transmit

404-206 3396.4 kHz - USB receive and transmit, CW receive

404-214 3395,4 kHz - CW transmit and Tune function

The above may seem backwards because the USB crystal is above the frequency of the crystal filter and the LSB crystal is below. However, this is correct, because the heterodyne scheme of the SB series inverts the sideband.

Heathkit did not provide trimmers for these crystals. They were made to tight tolerances so that no adjustment would be necessary when used in their circuits.

Note that the CW filter and transmit crystal are exactly 1000 Hz from the receive crystal. This means one must listen to a 1000 Hz note when receiving. Most CW ops prefer about 700-750 Hz, and 600 Hz is popular as well.

Hi Heathkit fans!

I need your advice on supplying certain crystals. I think this was about some of the SB series or HW series radios...

Someone asked me a while back for a 3996.4 kHz crystal

for one of their Heathkit radios.

I want to be sure this is the correct frequency and I had lost the e-mail. I needed to be sure it is not 3396.4 kHz that is needed or something...

Is this a standard crystal that was used - perhaps for USB or LSB selection in some of the mid-century rigs?

We are gearing up for some more production and wanted to make these available along with some other odd ones like:

29.895 MHz

and

37.895 MHz.

Thanks for any advice. 73 & DX.
