[Boatanchors] A Collins KWM-2A question

Hi All,

First, let me say that while I used to specialize in BA work, as I've
gotten older and can lift less weight I've sorta gotten away from it.
But a semi-local ham friend has a sick KWM-2A he asked me to check out.

Secondly, while my USAF career field was actually Microwave, I had
occasion to work on the KWM-2A on a few occasions (never owned one
myself).  But that was over 45 years ago. . .

OK, I haven't studied the manual he brought over yet, but thought that
I'd ask here for some pointers.

From his description this one seems to have a relay problem.  When
powered on the S meter stays pegged to the right and the relays don't
click in after warm-up as he said they should.  I 'seem' to recall that
there is a tube that drives the relays and as I study the manual I'll
check that out.

But any ideas/tips will be appreciated as I'm pending cataract surgery
(May 30th for the first eye) and right now I have to use a magnifier to
even read the manual/study the schematics. . .
