[Boatanchors] Groaning Bench

That reminds me......I got a hydraulic lift table from Harbor Freight last year to get these ground sniffers off the floor up to the bench height.
Then I slide them onto the Edsall table so I can do whatever is needed.
These lift tables come in 2 sizes...I got the smaller of them and should do the job for the foreseeable future.

Reminds me of the first "bench" I had set up when we bought this mobile home. Now, what with an 8 foot countertop in the closet (doors removed) for the operating table, guitar and Piano music equipment there wasn't exactly a lot of room left in this ~12x12 bedroom for a bench. The 'bench' consisted of one of those small apartment size dining tables, the kind that pulls apart for a leaf insert. Well, it served me well for several years, holding a number of SP-600's and R-390A's while I worked on them.

THEN. . . One day it just plain collapsed under the weight of an R-390A. As the set headed for the floor I grabbed at it, wrenching my back a bit and nearly dropping it on my foot. I had already broken 4 metatarsals in my left foot in the AF when a metal switchbox we were taking off the wall fell on it (the other guy who was helping jumped faster than I did :( It still pins me sometimes.

That was also the last true BA that I overhauled. As much as I love them, I just can't wrestle them around all that much anymore.

Now, the sad thing is, the Harbor Fright Workbench I now have is well equipped with test gear and so forth, could easily hold the heaviest BA, but is mostly only used to work on sand-state stuff!
