Hi Howie. I still have my pair of 6 Meter 'Hilltoppers', from my mountain topping days back in New England. I used a Lafayette HA-460 and it worked perfectly. I had a blast.
I lived in Fitchburg and used to visit Henry (Hi-Par) to buy material for antenna projects. Even had a 2 Meter Hilltopper. Last summer, I came across the antennas in storage and completely refurbed them. Henry was quite a character. His designs were simple and just worked. He used a lot of SS in his designs and the antennas could be deployed almost instantly, and consistently.
The SB-110As have a label on the inside that indicates the "A", but both have the regular "SB-110" on the front bezel.
I've purchased a few in the past and because they were 'kits', has issues. I currently have a pair of Swan 250Cs on a work bench. Both are better than the plain '250' model. I even have, not only the NB for one, but also the rare remote VFOs. Also have the TV-2C transverter for 2 Meters.
BTW, back in the 'day', I ordered a SB-110A, the PS/Speaker and the SB-500. I was told a week later all that stuff had been discontinued. So I bought the Swan 250C/TV-2C new and even though my location was the worst (!!), I worked my first Meteor Scatter.

Great memories!!

Also have a Drake TR-6/RV-6 combo that has outstanding performance even compared to my new equipment.

This CB merger idea is by far the craziest idea I have heard over almost
four decades in ham radio. The morons at ARRL are sure to right jump on it.

Hello Six Meter Gang,

I am in search of a Swan 250 or SB-110! Watcha' got?

Back in the 70's I worked the East Coast with my Sixer, a 50.4 MHz crystal,
and yes, a Hilltopper 3 element 6 meter beam (HiPar antennas in Fitchburg
MA ???)

Wanna get back on six.

Thank you

Howie WA3MCK

I have had a computer mounted on a shelf at the bottom of my main operating console, actually, over the years, 4-different computers (all HP), and do not have that many signals to contend with and all of them are weak on the 6-meter band.

You really want the Heath SB-110A. ?The original SB-110 had numerous problems. ?Fortunately, there were not that many sold. ?However, the SB-110A has "SB-110" on the front panel just like the original SB-110.

The Swan 250 is "drift city" and the unit is known as the Swan "two drifty"! ?The SB-110A is "rock solid" after a couple of minutes warm up and the calibration is excellent.

I have had a Heath SB-110A for over 40-years and it is still my main 6-meter SSB / CW unit.
