Remember, there are a
LOT of people that live and die by their DXCC totals, and as we approach
the sun spot minimum, FT8 is the proverbial manna from heaven for those
guys....There's only a certain number of DXCC entities out there ? what are these

Not to worry, Mark.  I know people who won’t rest until they have worked every DXCC country on every mode, on every band.  A bottomless pit.
I’m no longer actively DXing but if a person knows propagation on the various bands and has patience, it is possible to work DX during any part of the solar cycle.
Now mostly, I ragchew and restore boatanchors.
