Using a type 30 tube might work fine!  It has the correct base and the filament only draws 60 mA.  I do have several brand new type 30 tubes in stock and they are small enough to fit through the hole in the panel.


The Reinartz circuit does look very similar to what I have in the "unknown" receiver.

Glen,

Looks to me like it's a simplified Reinartz tuner, with the ground in a 
slightly unconventional place.  See:

Make an adapter, and try running it with a triode-connected battery 
power pentode such as a 3V4, 3Q4, 3A4, etc.  With the filaments in 
parallel these make a reasonable substitute for a WD-11/12.  The 3A4 
would be my first choice, as it will draw 200 mA at 1.4 volts, and 
should work well with the existing rheostat.
