Hi Daves,
I think generally as the solar activity cycles change (11 years or so)
conditions change for each of the bands. If we check the bands at the
same time every evening we are going to find them very different from a
few years ago. Putting the 'hook in the water' at a different time of
day may yield some pleasant surprises. Or..trying a different band.
It may also be true there are fewer operators but I see people bragging
about all the newcomers to CW outnumbering all the old timers. But
wait..you did say QSOs. I think you really meant rag chews. Today the
canned QSO rules the roost. "Ur rst 599 name is Bill 73" end of day. No
need to send the QTH or even the name for that matter. It's all there on
the internet. rst 599 has become standard punctuation too instead of a
meaningful report. Maybe we should lower our expectations.
