It looks more like a highly customized homebrew receiver (HBR = Home-Brewed
Receiver) based on the popular HBR receiver series, published by the League
in the late '50s and early '60s.

Although well done, the VFO dial's panel edges are rough, and the lettering
appears to be dry transfer, not too even, and applied with a lacquered
overcoat.

Subject: Re: [Boatanchors] OMEGA ELECTRONICS
There is an Omega Electronics in Amarillo, TX or was going back to the late
1960s or early 1970s. I am not sure if it still exists but the owner was
very capable of building something like that. I cannot say for sure but
that kind of work is an example of his type of thing.
The company was owned by a man called Calvin Smith (now SK) and his wife.
I am not sure who owns the place now or what they do outside of land mobile
work and Calvin has been dead for over 20-25 years. I doubt the present
owners can be of any help, but if Calvin's wife is still in Amarillo they
might be able to steer you to her and she might know.
Calvin worked on anything that used electrons and was very good. Here is a
link to their presence on the web which has their phone number. You might
call and see what you can find out.

Has anyone ever heard of this company and the HBR-9? Maybe just a prototype
one-off?
