Not really mysterious- the thing was used as a detector for slotted lines or
bridges etc that had a 1000Hz modulated signal source. So it's a high gain
1000 Hz narrow band (very!) amplifier with an output meter.

I think the only thing that my HP415B needs is a new AC cord. This will make
a great source of stable HT for the xmtr osc.

It has one other interesting thing to offer! A series of 12AX7 tubes with a
mysterious 1000 Hz audio filter between them. This thing may have some uses
for receiving as well!

I will soon get my Globe Chief Deluxe "airborne." Today I found an HP415B
living in my garage and it has an awesome series tube type , regulated 240V
DC supply that will be perfect for the osc supply and settling down the old
yoopy, chirpy Globe monster 6AG7 and 2X 807 rig.
