[Boatanchors] Turner Microphone

I have acquired a nifty looking brown Turner BX microphone.

 

I have redone the connections inside the mike head.  Unfortunately, testing
indicates the cartridge is bad.  

 

According to what I read on the net folks are using a Shure 99S556 PC
cartridge as a replacement.  Is this a true statement?  Are there other
alternatives?

 

What is the dust cloth cemented inside the front of the mike head?

 

Anything else I need to know?
