Yes, I had the same problem but my case was much worse.  My unit had been so overheated that the 50 ohm cartridge stick was measuring 70+ ohms.  Just changing the oil will not correct that.   I had to find a replacement element which I was quite fortunate to find thanks to Jacques Fortin.


I do think that 56 ohms is still useable as is.  Remembering what I went through to fix mine, I would clean that unit up, refresh the oil and count my blessings.  For ham radio, it will work.
