On Straight Key Night I’ve used my 2NT/2C combo with the Hallicrafters HA5 very successfully.
If you can find an HA5 for a decent price I would highly recommend it…pretty stable and the only old time VFO I’ve found that heterodynes with the VFO frequency to arrive at the final frequency.
Which reminds me…..I should put that trio on the air more often.

Both have a great look! It is kind of strange that Drake never developed a VFO for the 2NT so that radio amateurs could still use them after they upgraded to General!
