[Boatanchors] VFO Selection continued...

The HA5 is a nice VFO but kinda hard to fine and sometimes expensive. I've never owned a Eico slide rule VFO or a Johnson 122...Both should do fine on 80/40...

Those DDS VFO's work nicely but they do not glow...Hal

I have a VF1 here but have not tried it yet.

It might work nicely with the 2NT. For some reason I really like the idea of a slide rule dial. I want a really stale VFO. I looked at the Hallicrafters HA5 (or is it HA9?) and the EICO. Both have a great look! It is kind of strange that Drake never developed a VFO for the 2NT so that radio amateurs could still use them after they upgraded to General!

I have used the KnightKit VFO with the 2NT and it worked just fine...Never tried the HG-10 or VF-1...But I'm sure they would do well...Hal

How do you like that EICO VFO with the 2NT? Is it a direct plug in?

I always liked the look of that EICO VFO. You don't see them very often now... If I spot one at a hamfest some time I will pick it up.

I call mine "twins." The 2-NT is the same physical size as the 2-CQ speaker/Q-multiplier. These two flank my 2-C receiver. An Eico VFO sits atop the 2-CQ, an Icom MT-100 manual tuner sits atop the 2-C receiver.

But they were a pair intended for novices. But they were "PRICEY"!

They might not look enough alike to call them "TWINS".

The Drake T2-NT was probably a bit "PRICEY" for a novice at that point in

time.

And remember there was a matching receiver. The R2-C. The R2-C and T2-NT

were styled more like the 4-Line units.

If you have a T2-NT then you probably need to find a R2-C to go with it.
