[Boatanchors] Jean Shepherd K2ORS

Jean Shepherd was something else:
1. Does anyone remember his nightly radio show on WOR? There was nothing better than cruising around in the summer and listening to him weave stories about Flick, Schwartz and the Old Man.
2. Don't forget his books: In God We Trust (All Others Pay Cash) and Wanda Hickey. Very funny stuff.
3. I believe he was the first choice to be the narrator on the TV show "The Wonder Years."
4. He was in the Signal Corps in WWII, although he later claimed to have served in a messkit-repair battalion.

 Agreed Perry,
Today he was telling about the 4th of July and the monster rocket that his
inebriated neighbor lit off. Laughing out loud at Jean's story. Mark Twain
had nothing on Jean.
I just ordered his book In God We Trust- all others pay cash in the
electronic version.

Tnx Dale:  I saw and heard him address one of the Dayton Hamvention
banquets.
What a talent he was... of course we are reminded each Christmas season on
TV with "Christmas Story."    And one of my little great grandsons
wears glasses and
looks just like "Ralphie!"  Breaks me up.... :-D
