G'day allnoted this question and remembered my BC-312 covered in this which I wanted to modify (in 1970...). Slowly removed the stuff by using methylated spirits and patience. In the case of tubes, theonly problem here is that on glass envelopes the print will be washed away as well. On steel tubes the printing is different and usually stands up to cleaning with methylated spirits. Anyway: no poison warning here ;-) and YMMV!
