I've experimented with relays for front end protection before. If you
want to go the relay route, the best way to do it from my experience
is use a relay on the preamp input that completely opens all paths
from the antenna to the preamp on transmit. If the preamp input is
unbalanced, connecting the coax jack center to ground will simply
connect the preamp to a surface that becomes an antenna for it.
