Hi Rob,
Not exactly. After commercial CW ship traffic was stopped, former ops,
techs and engineers formed the Maritime Radio Historical Society (MRHS).

"We made the restoration of KPH to operational status our life's work. That was back in 1999 - the year the last commercial Morse code message in the U.S. was supposedly sent". They now have most of the receive and transmit sites
fully operational and using the old transmitters, receivers and antennas.

They have been operating with the call of KSM since and its a really big
deal to now be able to get back to using the orig. call of KPH. See some of
the past bulletins for how this was done and the history of KPH call sign
(see web page).

If really interested in KPH and Maritime Radio history this link to the MRHS
will be very interesting: http://radiomarine.org/

They usually operate on Saturdays and run the operations just like they
did when they were in business. They send marker Vs, CQs, WX, press, other bulletins, traffic lists (the lists are usually from previous times but will list real-time traffic for any ship and will handle tfc by email for any
received). There are a few boat stns who do send and receive traffic with them
many Saturdays. "In cooperation with the Point Reyes National Seashore, part of the National Park Service, the Maritime Radio Historical Society (MRHS) has taken on the job of preserving the historic ex-RCA coast station KPH and returning it to the air."

Oh and it is great code practice and sigs on several of their freqs are
very good here in NC.

Good listening....73 de Bill K4JYS

Does this mean they are back in business handling commercial
radiotelegraph messages from and to ships?
