"maker" is just what Millennials call homebrew, what hams have been
doing for a century.  CQ (Everyone with a ham ticket is a REAL HAM!)
Magazine is big on this stuff.

I recommend that hams who attend who have actually built something
real, as opposed to the typical Maker stuff that looks like a Lincoln
Log house or something assembled with Legos, bring their homebrew
rigs, receivers etc. to show what homebrew is, and explain that if
they want to set up a small machine shop, they can get into
constructing tube audio amplifiers and other cool things.  Some might
get ham licenses and get into vintage construction.
