> Mine was scratchy too. I think they all do that by design when “hot switching” all those amplifier stages like that. When I replaced the HV caps I did clean off the contact dits and wipers and left some DeOxit on them to at least eliminate that variable. I didn’t burnish them, just rubbed some Deoxit soaked paper on them and it worked fine. It didn’t doing anything for the "scratchy". You sure don’t want to change bands with the headphones on as it really tears the ear drums :) 73, Scott WA9WFA
