I have used an Atlas /Soundolier 70.7 volt speaker line transformer to
replace audio output transformers in boat anchors that use a single 6V6

Their HT47 transformer is rated at 4 watts.  It has taps at 4, 2, 1, and .5
watts.  The .5 watt tap is 10,000 ohms and the 1 watt tap is 5000 ohms.  

Price is about $15.00.  It is worth a try.  For a pair of 6v6 in you could
use two of the transformers.
