“After thinking about it, I thought of something I saw at Harbor 'Fright'
quite some time ago. That is, Liquid Tape...Phil, KO6BB”

I have worked in the broadcast industry (AM, FM and a little TV) for over 50 years.

At the cost of tower work, I would never specify anything but one layer of Scotch 33 plus or Scotch 88 tape, followed with a layer of Scotchfil.

Cover the area to be protected with one layer of Scotch 33 plus or Scotch 88. Wrap well past either side of the target area, overlapping a bit.

Then, wrap well past the Scotch electrical tape, on both sides, with Scotchfil. Stretch the Scotchfil a little, while wrapping. Be sure to overlap a bit. The Scotchfil will become a cohesive, water-tight mass.

If you don’t use the Scotch electrical tape first, you will never be able to easily remove the Scotchfil. With the tape against the protected area, one can cut the Scotchfil & Scotch tape with a sharp knife and remove as almost one mass.

Electrical wholesalers carry the, above mentioned, products. I’m sure the Internet would also be a source.

I have opened 20 year old junctions on coaxial cable that were treated this way and the connectors showed no signs of corrosion and were bone dry.

If you want to re-do everything, every year, go the Harbor Fright route.
