[Boatanchors] Ranger I Value

By the way, I MEANT to write $50, not $509.
To be fair that was a WORKING Ranger I that I bought in the early 1980s. It had a hole in the front panel
where someone had added a POT for controlling the frequency width in RTTY mode!
Yes, an ugly mod! So I was pleased to get a working ranger for $50 even if it wasn't a beauty queen! And of course I only used it in AM mode, and occasionally some CW (never for RTTY.)
Back in those days, I used a model 15 TTY machine as a printer and controlled it with a
Radio Shack Colour Computer plus a homebrew 170V DC power supply. The RS232 level converter
interface used some EXAR chips, from designs found in 73 Magazine! Great times for getting on
RTTY the cheap way and it worked fine.

I recently sold a Viking Ranger I that was complete with a rough cabinet and needed to be gone through (basically for parts) for $100 if that helps

Yeah - prices can be all over the place.
I ave paid a low as $509 for a local sale on a heavily modified Ranger.
I see them asking $300 - $700 each on eBay but that's way beyond my budget!
