I used a Harbor Freight 2-cycle version since 2012. First used it
extensively during hurricane Sandy to keep frig. and several lights going
for 5 or 6 hours at a time. Also used it at hamfests to power up AC stuff
that I was selling and used it several times for my personal outdoor
Field Day type activity. Peak is only 900 watts, no 12V DC, and no
installed meter. Meter and 12V weren't a high priority for me. Currently
on sale at Harbor Freight for $88.88. Obviously a lot easier to return or
exchange if you have a problem. But, for $89, I've had no problem with
this thing and monitoring the AC shows very good regulation (actually
better then my house AC service).
